A Time Poem

I continue to reflect upon time. It has been, is, very present for me. We create so much of our lives around time. Yet, paradoxically, time is, as I wrote about in The Social Construction Series Part 5: The Social Construction of Time, a social construction. Hm.

Alright, how about a time poem? Here we go.

Time is not
What you think it is
Fleeting and everlasting

A paradox
Like all life

Happiness and sadness
Are just the same
We think we know them

Yet yearn for more

More time, more happiness
And then less
Less time, less sadness

And where do we look?

We look outside, into the world
For the answers, and
Come up shy

It is not found there
Someone said

Though we know this truth
We run away from the answer
Hidden inside

It must be out there
I can touch it, smell it, taste it, feel it

We believe in it and
run after it
Yet all the time it was
right there
waiting patiently for our return

Have a lovely evening, and be well.
