Yep, that’s me above with my cousins, circa, 1980 or so. Fun. And, yep, that’s also me to the right, some, 40 years later. Phew, what a ride. Amazing. I grew up in Los Angeles, and was raised in a working/middle class family. Both my parents always worked, and taught me the value of hard work, persistence, and leadership.
I worked in the private sector for 16 years, then went back to school at 33 and graduate from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelors in Sociology, and from Oregon State University with a Masters in Human Development and Family Studies.
I have both intellectual knowledge and practical experience in leading and coaching individuals and teams, both personally and professionally, especially in the sales industry. I am now the Director of the Extended Learning Department at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, OR.
As a nontraditional first-generation college graduate, I have a personal and professional vision of ensuring that everyone has access to higher education. Of which personal and professional development are a part. I live to create new access points to education and knowledge, and part of those access points is dissemination in print and in collaborative contexts, such as leadership and coaching individuals, teams, and organizations.
I’ve worked for many large companies, including Nabisco Biscuit Company, Frito Lay, Pepsico, US Foodservice, and Odwalla Juice, Coca Cola. I worked in both sales and sales leadership in all of these companies.
