heart’s harmony

There are ways the earth feels
underfoot

an extinction
and extension of self

boiled over
with the last of the snowflakes that
dwell

within bridges
made of surrender
and of love

a predesigned configuration
of

your heart’s harmony
felled

like a star
from the sky above

Petite Pen Poetry Prompt

Petite Pen is a fun and collaborative prompt that my dear friend, K Hartless posts approximately once a week. If you are interested in inspiring poetry prompts, I recommend checking out K’s website. Usually the Petite Pen prompts are posted on Tuesdays.

Here are a few poems that I’ve written in response to the Petite Pen prompts in the past several months.

I dream
of the space
in between you
and me

a serendipitous feeling

this
unseen majesty
of calm and quiet progress
demanding

we pay attention
and notice

I in wait
calming my spirit, and mind

seeds unadorned
spend time
securely in my heart

shifting
energies

from callous hands
dripping with fever tense
and moist

with tears remorse

I look for you
in the notes, and sounds
dripping

honey, profound

a secret lullaby
washing over my mind

letting limbs of the dead
and old

come alive

with a misty hello
I remember

it is night

and
almost time to say
goodbye

heart and mind become one

Photo by Oliver Hihn on Unsplash

as the leaf falls
from the tree,
and tumbles
end over end
towards the earth,
I’m reminded,
of love, and
loss, and
all the things
in life we hold close
to heart and wish to
never depart.

yet,
we know all things
are fleeting,
even this feeling
I have, as I’m writing
this poem,
sitting, and
whimsically
staring at the screen,
as one word
appears, and then
another,
and then they disappear
from heart, and
mind, one
after the other,

and then?

another
feeling and
knowing comes,
and heart and mind
become one
.

About

Some see a bent tree,
and they think it’s me. Little
do they know,
there imagining me,
just like in a dream.

You see me,
I see you,
we are all a part of this
Universally
accepted thing.

A collection of parts,
one and all, making up
the entire whole.

Next time you’re
out and about,
and you’re wondering
how it’s all carried out,

remember me,

for I’m a living and breathing
reflection
of the very thing,
you’ve been thinking about.

Tanka #9

ponder existence,
contemplate and meditate
on the nature that
surrounds you, while moving in
the silent dance of intrigue
and one imagination.
