heart’s harmony

There are ways the earth feels
underfoot

an extinction
and extension of self

boiled over
with the last of the snowflakes that
dwell

within bridges
made of surrender
and of love

a predesigned configuration
of

your heart’s harmony
felled

like a star
from the sky above

Petite Pen Poetry Prompt

Petite Pen is a fun and collaborative prompt that my dear friend, K Hartless posts approximately once a week. If you are interested in inspiring poetry prompts, I recommend checking out K’s website. Usually the Petite Pen prompts are posted on Tuesdays.

Here are a few poems that I’ve written in response to the Petite Pen prompts in the past several months.

I dream
of the space
in between you
and me

a serendipitous feeling

this
unseen majesty
of calm and quiet progress
demanding

we pay attention
and notice

I in wait
calming my spirit, and mind

seeds unadorned
spend time
securely in my heart

shifting
energies

from callous hands
dripping with fever tense
and moist

with tears remorse

I look for you
in the notes, and sounds
dripping

honey, profound

a secret lullaby
washing over my mind

letting limbs of the dead
and old

come alive

with a misty hello
I remember

it is night

and
almost time to say
goodbye

sanguine love

emotions fill the sky
and my heart

with sanguine love
a pain, like an albatross

of hope and dismay
conjuring various realities

in some
I’m filled with anticipation
while in others

dread
is a constant companion

yet, it’s in between them both
where
a mystery comes up

from the shallow river water, to the ice caps
of the tallest mountain
tops

the shadowed, and shaded land
where the push, and pull of life’s paradoxes

gives each of us a welcoming hand

Glowing Sunrise, Published at Spillwords Press

I am excited to announce that my poem, Glowing Sunrise is now available at Spillwords Press. A big thank you to Dagmara K., and the whole team at Spillwords for publishing this piece, and for their continued support.

Glowing Sunrise

one, two, and three
are the stars
I count in the sky

there are so many more though…

I would be honored if you would go here, and read the rest of my poem. Thank you!

deep down

pain and trauma dwell within trees
just like they do

in you and me, a casual
acquaintance

made from the threads of the breeze

Can you see that we’ve always been, and will always be
part of the same stream?

then, why, I wonder, do we treat nature
differently

estranged and placated
we push away connections

deemed unnecessary

only they are, in fact
a comisc part

of a grand narrative, the seen and unseen
and everything

deep down

we believe ourselves to be

indigo fields

I like to live underneath the trees
they satisfy me, and

my sensibility

of the known and unknown

Did you know that around every corner a bend is shown?

among the flowers, long and tall
as they, to me, draw

nearer, and

for the first time in life
a kaleidoscope of colors becomes clearer

purples and pinks always delight
while amber hues, and the relational aspects

of the indigo fields
speak to me of a love

lingering

in the shadows
awaiting its time to shine

upon you and I
