Preoccupation and persistence found

perfection.

We met under the stars, and 

talked until dawn. 

You were a shadow of the clouds,

mysterious and luminous.

I hid against the sand dunes

sparkling with wear and weather. 

Drift wood stood between us

daring the other to signal acceptance.

I’ve seen you before 

when it was impossible to say more. 

A faint hello was all I could manage.

I found life difficult, and struggled to

maintain balance.  

Even now, I fight with reality, did we

speak or did I imagine. 

A life along the sand, and in the

dunes, can bring about such damage.

You told me to wait.

I did, and sat and drank. 

Troubled, with ideas blurry and blind

I fell into a hole,

and flew next to the sun. It was fun 

and stayed the same and 

was all that anyone needed to grow.

Depression comes in waves. 

In a mind filled with worry, and body

filled with tension. 

you probably didn’t know 

nor did you feel the need to mention. 

You and I always happen. 

The world comes into view, and with

a silent and persistent acquiescence 

falls away

until it’s time for the next show.

The waves crash. 

Dusted diamonds linger

upon the sand. An offering 

of life and death, and a reminder 

of truth and sacrifice—hypocrisy.

Love lives in all things, lasting

beyond imagination and illusions of

idleness—

hope. Tying the tide together, 

brings a tempest. 

Furious and eager, I love alone, and

pray to the one I call home.
