There was a time when sandalwood dawned the day, I remember the blood and sweat, and all the fallen decay.
The night was darker than anyoneโs remembrance of our plight. It was as if the sea had crested over the town, leaving in its wake, no sound.
A tinkling in the air was all that was left.
A regard for fairyโs, we used to jest.
In between the tall trees, and the grassy leaves, we spent the summer in midnightโs dream; and, just when I thought darkness might envelop the entire world, a kiss from you sent me toward the light, unfurled.
Emerging from beyond the dream, did we; as stars rained down, and we caught love, watching it bourgeon like the sun.
Do you remember, hon?
It was our first starry night, two lovers underneath a canopy of brilliance, their life barely begun.
I point to each star I see, wanting to believe in more
something beyond the scope of my current ability to cope
with the loss in my heart, living there like a mirage that comes upon us all at once, and we stop,
stare, and deeply revel in a dream for something more to be seenโฆ
waiting, watching, wondering, if what we see is reality, or just as it seems
blurry, through the tears that fill my eyes continuously,
I seek
shelter, from the field of dancing projections that live within my minds limited perfection
and, the paradox?
also living within our heart, is a capacity beyond our ability to comprehend, so at times, we pretend to not notice, yet
the
mobility, and nobility
once seen on a movie screen, now coming home, to you and me,
is so wondrous, we pause, breathe in the healing presence, and realize that all of lifeโs dejections, and, reflections, live within our hearts protection
Blue The ocean During the night Glistening in the light Stars
In the event you donโt know, this poem is called an Elfje. As you know, I started writing both haikus and tankaโs recently, and am excited about venturing into another poetry medium with the Elfje.
According to the Elfje rules, the fourth sentence is supposed to be about yourself in relation to the person or object. Though I did not follow that rule in this poem, I wanted to share it anyway, as I liked the way it turned out.
Alright, thatโs all for now. Have a lovely Sunday, everyone.
