Water, transfixed in
mind, ruminations abound
as life mirrors back.

It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve posted about the community garden. All is going well. Very well, in fact.
Last week, I planted four tomato plants, and a zucchini and squash plant; and the peas are growing delightfully.
Here are some recent pics.

The indoor starts are close. I am waiting one more week, just in case we get some rain; they are still small, so a large rain would be harmful.
Here is a pic of the indoor starts.

Next?
Yep. Planting the indoor starts next week. After that? Watch and tend. Beautiful.
And, here’s a haiku I created recently as I was contemplating the garden.
watch them grow, one and
then another, roots unfold,
take hold, then? behold

Sometimes
my emotions feel like a
spool of thread
wound tight, yet not too so,
more just right.
How, you ask, could I know?
Years spent
living in a body
with emotions bound
so tight,
I lived on the verge
of extinction
from the very bliss of
every little feeling distinction.
And now?
Just right,
is about the state
of things today. And,
I’m always curious
about what the next chapter
will lay
at my feet.
As I continue
to learn
more about my (our)
very existence
on a planet
so full of wonder
I often forget
what I’m dealing
with.

Does language
ever really capture
the love we feel
completely?
Do stars
drop from the sky
and nestle us
with great surprise?
Pondering
these questions,
I think about the boys,
grown up so much now;
it’s hard to believe
as I still see their shadow
in my rear view.
On different paths,
are they,
yet learning more,
they are,
about themselves,
and, yes,
everyone else.
A miracle to behold,
is the gift
of being a father
to two young men
so bold.
They touch my heart
in so many ways,
at times,
it’s impossible to impart
the fullness
of this beautiful gift,
especially when we are apart.
Be that as it may,
for today, it’s enough
to know
that they live within,
and will stay there
forevermore.

With every step I take
there is heartache,
like I might
break.
And, then, just around
the bend, I
see you grin, and
my ache turns into a
silent has been.

I knock three times,
yes,
it’s 28-5.
It seems I’ve got
that right, yet
there’s never an answer,
and I wonder
what might be the matter.
I pace
and think,
and think and pace,
clearing my mind
of all those escapes, and
preconceived ideas
of what I’m missing, while
staying present
to the glow that’s forth giving.
And, just then,
I hear someone
from behind the door,
calling someone
from beyond
the shore.
And yet,
no one’s there,
and I wonder
about all that’s fair,
as our
hearts
mingle in a dance
of inquiry,
hidden from view
behind
a barricade
of life’s fullest and most
interesting mysteries.
