heart of hope

the stream runs faster
and farther

than a single breath can last

moving in tandem
with a purpose delivered

at last

a mirror cracking and aching
from lost parts

pebbles and rocks strewn out
deep and broad

while I
give a wink, and nod

to the sky, singing the stream
a simple lullaby

made form syllables
long and short

all delivered from my heart of hope

cosmic eyes

broken hearts of the wind

are gentle, in times when strings are
thin, and fierce

as we gather the materials within

to live, love, and laugh at the sky

reminding me

of how hard we all try
even when we want to shout

we can still let it go by

with a pause, and a breath
watching the waves wash over our missteps

revealing, and relating

the nature of the cosmos in your eyes

of a love

that always shines

stems and seeds

shadows are cast over my eyes
as I try to find

the nature of reality inside
the stems and seeds

gifted to me
while I await the return of the tide
within

the heart and stone romancingโ€ฆ

I would be honored if you would go here, and read the rest of my poem. Thank you!

flowered aspects

I bleed from the trepidation within
of salt and the sand beneath

the trees skin

Itโ€™s like wondering, and wandering
around the needle of a haystack

rightly sized and trimmed

with a beneficence of hope, and
a ladle made from the love we once formed

Is it possible to love this much, and not bleed more?

I donโ€™t think so either.

For, itโ€™s in the form of the fountain
where love gets lighter

living beneath the breath of this struggling architect, and

the love that lives within
the next steps of his flowered aspects

I was excited to learn yesterday that my poem, The Seas Adoration, was nominated for June Publication of the Month at Spillwords Press. Thank you to Dagmara K, and the team at Spillwords for their continued support; and my deepest thanks, gratitude, and appreciation to all of you for always being here, supporting my work, and being magnificent friends.

Voting is open though June 29, and you can vote here. Thank you!

river deltas hymn

trees hold up the sky
youโ€™ve always known it was that way

by design

like candy rolled up into a tiny ball
sprinkled

with love, these shiny bits of

fall, brown and sandalwood colored delightfulness
befall us all

when we allow the love of childhood to enter the space
weโ€™ve hidden inside

the flowers stamen, tall
and magnificent

a fragrance from the heavens cascading down in time
with the beating of our hearts

even when thin, and dreary

the tides

escape
the banks of the river deltas hymn
with the love we share in common within

I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for all of the love, prayers, hugs, and support you sent to my family and I over the past few days. Things have settled, and I now am back on WP. I will spend the next few days catching up on your beautiful poems and posts. Sending love and blessings to all of you.

I was elated to learn yesterday that the Wounds I Healed: The Poetry of Strong Women anthology is now a #1 best seller. How amazing! Congratulations to Gabriela, Ingrid, Nick, and all of the wonderfully talented authors! You can pick up a copy here.

As a reminder, there is a launch party this morning at 7 am PST, where some of the authors will be reading their poems from the anthology. That is one hour from now, and you can tune in via YouTube here. Alas, I will not be in attendance this morning, yet send my love and best wishes to Gabriela, Ingrid, Nick, and all of the authors for a splendid event.

petals and pearls

I take trips back and forth up the mountain
while relegating

the misery I feel, like a pin drop

of blood
after the storm stops

I watch

the sunrise
over my heart of flowers
atop

our bed of petals and pearls

made from
loves most tranquil and delicate fibers
surreal

stitched
in the early morning, and
weaved with the fabric of our present glory

these two hearts, believe

in all they see

especially when pain arises
with the most pressing need

A Wounds I Healed: The Poetry of Strong Women Event on June 4, A Spillwords Nomination, and A Poem: the me, in you

Wounds I Healed: The Poetry of Strong Women

When I learned last month that Wounds I Healed: The Poetry of Strong Women was open to submissions from all sexes, I chose to submit two poems written specifically for this wonderful collection.

I am honored to announce that my two poems were accepted. Iโ€™m also excited to inform you about a WIH event on June 4.

From the Editor, Gabriela Marie Milton:

โ€œOn Saturday June 4, at 9 am CT โ€“ 10 am ET (USA) join me and Ingrid on Twitter Space for a lively discussion and updates on our anthology Wounds I Healed: The Poetry of Strong Women. By saving and clicking on the link below you can listen to the discussion even if you do not have a Twitter account. Please share the link with those you think may be interested. I canโ€™t wait to talk to those of you who can attend.โ€œ

https://twitter.com/i/spaces/1lDxLLreevkxm

That is 7 am PT (USA) for those on the west coast.ย  I will be there and hope to see you there too.

Spillwords Press, May Publication of the Month Nomination

I am also honored to announce that my poem, Hidden Inside, was nominated for May Publication of the Month at Spillwords Press. Whereas all of the poems I write have deep meaning to me, this poem is deeper than most.

As some of you know, there was a time when I was disconnected from my intention and all of the gifts that the connection to oneโ€™s heart entails.

Itโ€™s been a long time since that time, yet emotions still arise from that part of my life, as it was traumatic and very difficult.

It makes the nomination for my poem, Hidden Inside, more profound for me.

I would be honored if you would go here and vote. Voting closes on 5/29. Thank you!

A Poem: the me, in you

splashes of lilac dance across the sky
in tune with my heart denied

as aspects of you

hide
under the suffering moon

and, as it all takes root

I dance across tree limbs
looking for a commonplace to loom

in my quest
to understand the me, in you

sky blue

I see love in you, and the sky blue

wishing upon a falling star
true

I wonder

about nature
and the love living inside my mind

though, this time
I relegate love to another line

of hope, as it lingers in the air
like mist carrying the sun
within its moist, and ever so toiled

breath, I dare

to challenge the moon, breaking apart
my heart

none

can prepare me for the agony
of lifeโ€™s darkness
to me, each morning renewed

with starkness, so

I run, and run, and run, and, then

Stop.

and, wait at the end of the sun
where arises something new

as I reach out my hand toward you
