love blossoms over the sunโ€ฆ

Iโ€™m covered in a blanket of darkness
as the wind caresses my skin,
and opens me up again

wide, as the sky is deep, I pause
and breathe all of life inโ€ฆ

closing my eyes, I try to remember

why
and where we last met, as love arises
within

towards
the thinness, atmospheric tension, beginsโ€ฆ

a tranquility, and calmness beneath the sea, stirs,
and a tremble in the earth shakes
the reverie combined,
mirth

set aside for the dawn,
as love blossoms over the sunโ€ฆ

Portions of this poem may have been inspired by love warmly from aroused, by calmkate. If youโ€™ve not read Kateโ€™s poem, check it out when you have a moment, it is lovely.

underneath my skinโ€ฆ

as fingers caress the tree,
there is glory seen, as the feelings beneath,
keep coming for me

one, after another, they try, me,
to
set freeโ€ฆ
and I resist, more common
persist

running against the grain, terror scratched skin,
gritting teeth, pain from within

arises again, and
againโ€ฆas

the
wind breathesโ€ฆand, I

relax back into the flowerbed, smelling the roses
red

I take ease, notice the bees, relate my love for them,
not
too late

to grow roots straight into the earth, becoming
one with the soil, and the beauty enveloping me,
I roil, as

pain subsides, and I continue to surmise
my love of this beautiful planet, felt beneath,
within, and underneath my skinโ€ฆ

natureโ€™s magnificence bestowedโ€ฆ

flowers hold a love
of their own,
petals, sepals, and
stamen, sewn, with
dewdrops of compassion shown

all
held together
in a gentle reposeโ€ฆ

natureโ€™s magnificence bestowedโ€ฆ

Dance Away the Day, Published at MasticadoresIndia

I am so pleased to announce that my poem, Dance Away the Day, is now available at MasticadoresIndia. Another big thank you to Terveen Gill, and the team at MasticadoresIndia for their continued support, and for publishing this piece.

Dance Away the Day
as a tear
escapes my eye,
I resist
even more,
not wanting
to face
the deluge
needing
to pour forth

gritting
my teethโ€ฆ

I would be honored if you would go here and read the rest of my poem. Thank you!

the love we feel deep inside…

looking to the sky, I see wisps of dreams pass by,
hung to clouds, and curled up tight inside

they drift and float, as the land and sea
continue to roam, we

search far and wide, and continue to try,
clutching at dreams, portrayed in the mirrors
magic display, seenโ€ฆ

a reflection, and refraction, of lifeโ€™s mysterious
contradictions of mind, gleanedโ€ฆyet

stillness continues to elude us, as we hang our dreams
on the clouds that pass by, and search for meaning
outside, still

as day turns to night, and
the clouds disappear from sight,
the light burning on the horizon, bright,
reminds us

of the love we feel deep insideโ€ฆ

A Bloggerโ€™s Diary 11/7/21: On the Week, Writing and Reflecting, Social Media, the Coast, and the Woman: Splendor and Sorrow: | Love Poems and Poetic Prose Contest

The Week

Well, we are now five weeks into the fall term, and having face-to-face classes for the first time in 22 months. It is both wonderful, and a bit stressful. Thus far, things are going well, and we are now planning to double the amount of face-to-face classes for winter term. All the while realizing that at any moment these classes may need to be switched to remote delivery. We will see.

Iโ€™ve also been working on a new partnership with a regional corporation for employee training, which I am excited about. The training program would increase access to education and employment for many in the local workforce. A wonderful opportunity.

Writing and Reflecting

As you all know, my focus, passion, and creative energies are still focused on poetry, and I donโ€™t see that changing anytime soon. I am in love with the creative process that has developed within me over the last year, and actually have amassed quite a lot of poetry, which may serve as the basis of a book.

I am planning to reflect upon the book, which does already have a title, and go through all of my poems over the winter holidays; the idea being that a book may take form sometime in the spring.

Of all the poems that have been published over the past month or so, unknown, and already unbound, and dusty, and delicious, are the two Iโ€™ve chosen to write about today.

The poem unknown, already, unbound, was a concept that occurred to me while reflecting on my dreams and how worlds (and our associated realities) are socially constructed through our perceptions. Meaning, that, though weโ€™ve always been unbound and limitless, conditioning and socialization creates perspectives of limitation and boundness, if you will.

However, when we recognize that we are just like the tree, the sapling, and the seed, unbound, and already always walking into the unknown, so much of life becomes available. Increasing our awareness of these truths, creates a world, reality, and visceral experience of aliveness. Is beautiful.

The poem dusty, and delicious, was inspired by the WDYS#103 photo prompt from Keep it Alive, by Sadje. I think it is pretty obvious from the poem that the inspiration was, in fact, a reflection of my time as a child living in Los Angeles. My parents would always get donuts on Sunday mornings, and I would await the delivery of these tasty treats with bated breath. Seriously!

Reminiscing about my childhood and writing the poem was much fun, and, well, tasty, even. Ha!

Social Mediaย

In my last diary entry, I wrote about posting on more social media sites, Insta and Twitter more specifically; and that is now happening. I am getting the hang of both of these platforms, with, of course, support from some of our dear blogger friends โ€“ thank you!

These social media platforms are quite different from each other. With Instagram, I plan to continue to post each time I post on WP; yet with Twitter, itโ€™s a completely different strategy.ย

There is a 280 character limit on Tweets, which makes writing a complete poem a challenge, which is the fun of it. I am committed to writing one โ€œTwitter Poemโ€ each day through the rest of this calendar year.

Here is an example of one of my recent Twitter Poems.

love lives
in the unseen,
in the moments
in between, in the stars, and
galaxies, inside of you and me, and
in every living thing,
seenโ€ฆ

Super fun. Iโ€™ve connected with some of you on both of these social media platforms, yet, if weโ€™ve not yet connected, I invite you to follow me, and then, of course I will follow back. You can reach me on Instagram here, and on Twitter here.

The Coast

As most of you know, I love the ocean; and, I am taking a trip to the coast in about two weeks. I am super excited. I am staying in a different town this time called Waldport, which is just next door to Yachats, which is one of my favorite places on the Oregon coast.

Of course, I will take lots of pictures while I am there, and will post about the trip when I am back. Itโ€™s been a while since Iโ€™ve been to the coast, and I am eager. When you grow up close to the coast, or the beach, sea, or whatever the ocean is called where you live, you yearn to be with the water, the waves, the salty air and mist, and the wondrous sea life. I cannot wait.

we kiss time goodbyeโ€ฆ

apart, a distance kept, past regret,
and other mysterious combinations of lives lived
instead

the love of a lifetime, and beyond all lifelines,
blossoms, as we touch the sky, with hearts filled with
love and joy

once, we bid adieu, not knowing whether our paths
would cross again, we, two

souls separated by circumstance, now fly high,
transparency by design, seeing each other
for the first time, we rely, and

cross the crowded city center, enter each
others arms, hold close, as the
stars align

and we kiss time goodbyeโ€ฆ.

our loving escapeโ€ฆ

love lost and unadorned, yet remembered, and
stored, for itโ€™s you, Iโ€™ve always adoredโ€ฆ

like butterflies have wings, you always see me,
as I am, not another iteration of a dream
romance

making my towards you, raising through the seas
of possibility, and tranquility, I look forlorn
at times

yet, know

youโ€™re always there with a helpful hand, guiding me,
through ordeals trivial, and those most plentiful,
and mystical

remembering this, gives way to a love
deep within

like sap running through the veins of a tree,
my heart pumps love throughout my
beings entirety

holding it in place, creating a soft and textured space,
for our loving escapeโ€ฆ

The opening line to this poem, and thus the entire poem, was inspired by a wonderful poem, titled November, by Simmi, of Rose-Colored Glasses? If youโ€™ve not yet visited Simmiโ€™s site, and read the poetry there, please do so, it is lovely.

the dream tree…

the veins of the earth pour
through me, as I sit quietly, contemplating
the tree, me, and all I seeโ€ฆ

โ€ฆI wonder if this life is really meant to be,
or, if the me I see, is simply a reflection
of the dream treeโ€ฆ

cascading light reflects off the tree, and
I gather up memories bound underneath the sea,
and wish for another reality

where pain and pleasure go together,
like twins, conjoined in a love so tender,
kind, and altogether

reminiscent

of the mystery,
weโ€™ve spent our lives trying to out figureโ€ฆ
