Ancient Bliss

I linger in the mist
and within the folds of ancient
bliss

a taste of acceptance
and of rejection

dwelling
within a body and mind
rejuvenated
by a scintillating sky
and by the sights, sounds
and smells
weaved
through the paradox of humankind

#NatureSpeaks: 30 #Poems in 30 Days – Day 5: My Blood, by Eunice Aformanor

They bloom with vibes
as grapes drive on vines,
butterflies welcome their
seasons in species,
My blood celebrate me.

But, when blooms derail
when transitions
cut off maturity,
and my blood
betrays me,
Can l announce
to denounce ?
Can any type
fit in tighter
than ‘A’?
Denouncing it
is denouncing
self and soul
denouncing it
is denouncing
my nature.

As healing rains fall
with water and fire
to take us higher,
so do l prepare
for the smooth,
the rough and
tough turns,
even for the never hoped for,
to be at peace with pains,
For no other can hide my
heartaches in smiles
than myself,
for Sorrow is a perfect Picture
of Love in progress.

with all their scars

they say, life
is a performance
of sorts, played out
on the background of
perceived solidity

young children,
learning quickly…

I would be honored if you would go here, and read the rest of my poem. Thank you!

wash away all the fears

Photo by Artem Sapegin on Unsplash

the sky bleeds
each day,
renewing
itself in its journey,
which, yes,
is sometimes
frayed around
the edges, and is also
pure warmth
in its acceptance

of
a knowing
we hold
deep inside,
which,
reminds us to

look
to the sky, in
times of worry,
knowing we shall
see all of ourselves
in the glory we behold
on an early morning

sun rising,
golden delight,
washing the daytime
woes away,
with a single brushstroke
of warmth,
and rays,

filling the volumes
of our souls
with an everlasting
energy, and healing presence,
especially when
we are
feeling sad, and
so diminished

so,

when we
are quaking, and
in need of safety,
remember,
to look up, and
allow the light
to enter
your heart,

and
wash away
all the fears that
we continue to
hold dear

Unpacking and Reconceptualizing Purpose

Photo by Laura Seaman on Unsplash

I’ve been reflecting a lot upon the concept purpose the past few weeks, and, whereas I’ve not come up with any real new conclusions about purpose, I do have a few reflections to share with you. Ready? Okay, here we go.

Let’s first define the concept.

purpose noun

the intention, aim or function of something; the thing that something is supposed to achieve

Oxford Learner’s Dictionaries

There we go.

While I understand this definition, it leaves me feeling a little wanting. Meaning, while I understand the definition perfectly well, I think it can set us up for heartbreak if we’re not careful.

For instance, what happens if the “something that is supposed to [be] achieved,” is not achieved. Then what? Hm.

I have a different way to think about purpose; and it consists of three basic concepts.

  1. Being present.
  2. Accepting what is.
  3. Creating anew.
Photo by Naassom Azevedo on Unsplash

When we are fully present, each moment lives and breathes with a purpose all it’s own. Thinking about purpose this way is not about “achievement.” It’s not about striving or seeking anything. It’s about being present to what is, accepting it with an open heart and mind, and then taking the actions necessary to create anew in each moment.

Thinking about purpose this way, eliminates the need for something specific to happen. Instead, each moment something unexpected can occur, and we can accept it, and create our life anew from that space.

That is powerful, empowering, and purposeful.
