A Reflection Poem

Evan Clark@ Unsplash

Is that you I see,
Or is that me
Chasing after you
Along this life,
Yet You’ve always stayed

In place, a majestic space
Full of grace, and
A long lingering embrace

When confused, I look
And see
You reflected back at me

The love inside given,
Without a hand out
Always forgiven, and
Mutually driven

Toward tomorrow
With a sense of purpose
Developed
And always enveloped

In a love I see and feel
Deep down
At the core of Being

No mistakes or fleeing,
Always a returning, and
A knowing,
Even when times are tough
And slow-going

Always there in connection
As I stare outward
At that sparkling reflection

A mirror of my Soul,
Which doeth take part
And happily impart
Everlasting joy,

A true beauty to enjoy
Is this thing we call life

A Poem of Gratitude

Photo by Ian Schneider on Unsplash

Stop to look around,
And you shall see, that
Which has always been,
Yet sometimes goes unseen

The Ocean with

Water so deep and blue,
Shimmering and sparkling
As tides rise and fall, and

We make do
With the faintest hint and hue
Of the mirrored sky
A delight at night, and
Refreshing and alight by day

The sun golden overhead,
As clouds dance in their stead
And make the mystery
Of our history
And time on this planet

Sometimes too much to manage, yet
We return to the ocean
With a spirit of renewal
Ripe for a return to the source
Of that all encompassing jewel

Which is majestic, and also
Quite prophetic and magnetic
, so

Take the time, dear friend
To breathe in
That salted air, which
Is also quite exalted, and

A blessing to us all
Who have halted to experience
And give our many thanks
To the life viens of this place

A Blogger’s Diary 11/8/20: On Writing, The Election, Music, and A Poem

Photo by Toa Heftiba on Unsplash

It’s hard to believe, I know, I know, cliche, yet, it is hard to believe that the holidays are upon us. Phew. A busy week, as always, and a stressful one for people that live in this country. Yep. True.

Writing

Right, so, first, in the event you’ve not yet seen what I’ve been up to, here it is.

  1. A Perspective Poem
  2. Why It’s Important to Understand Your Own Sensitivity As A Gift
  3. A Poem of Peace
  4. A Poem at The Precipice
  5. 3 Paradoxes of Leadership All Leaders Should Know
  6. The Reflection Series Part 3: What Does it Mean to Live A Life of Wonder?
  7. A Resilience Poem

Well, well, well, look at that. More poems than any other type of writing this week. Hm. Well, I did write last week that I was going to continue writing poems. How fun.

And, this week?

Well, as always, there is a plan, yet I’m never really sure what will happen. More fun that way. Really. Let’s see. Yes, I am thinking about a few different pieces. Here they are.

  1. Poems on
    1. Courage
    2. Movement
    3. Vulnerability
    4. Majesty
  2. A new social construction series entry on interaction ritual – it’s a sociological thing, of course, and will be fun.
  3. Some new thinking I’ve done on interactions. More specifically on coaching type conversation.
  4. And, I’m still pondering that piece on moving towards a more resilient and positivistic approach to sociology. Not sure.

It’s super fun to look back on what I’ve written during the week, reflect upon it, and then consider the following week’s writing. I am very curious to see how much poetry comes this next week. Hm.

Right. Well, that’s all about writing. Now? Yep, here we go.

The Election

Photo by Element5 Digital on Unsplash

Though, I’m not going to go on and on here, I do want to acknowledge how much stress, worry, and anxiety people in this country have been feeling about the election over the past week

And, no matter where you align yourself along the political spectrum, the aforementioned statement is true.

I am grateful that the election is complete, and that Biden and Harris will be in office for the next 4 years.

Whereas, I am hopeful they will do some good for a very fractured country, I do believe they are a bridge to a better day. Meaning?

That both political parties have work to do; and, they need to begin today.

That’s about all I have to write about that for now. Music? Yep. Good. Here we go.

Music

Photo by Felicia Buitenwerf on Unsplash

Alright, so, like many of you, I’m sure, I listen to music when I write. Well, actually, I listen to music when I do lots of things, writing is simply one of them. And?

Well, a good friend of mine turned me on to a new pianist this past week. And?

WOW!

I mean, phew, moving, inspiring, exceptional. Ready? Here you go.

Now, whether you enjoy piano, or not, I invite you to please take a listen. Yiruma plays some of the most beautiful music I’ve ever heard. Really. Phew. Lovely.

Alright, that’s about all for this week.

Before I go, I want to add one more thing. Ready? Good. Here we go.

A New Day

Though divided,
They simply had forgotten,
That division is the seed of begotten
Times past, and

That there was need
Of a new day, where the kids could play
Free from fear of reprisal,

Along a path toward survival
With a much needed revival

Let us then not be stifled, but rather
Set a course
Quite more delightful

And work side by side
One and all
Toward a future
That holds the promise
Of what is rightful and insightful

Have a lovely week, everyone.

A Resilience Poem

Photo by Eric Muhr on Unsplash

The human spirit, touched by light
Upon this very night
Wanders and wonders
With a delight suspended

By fraught of naught else
But doubt
Seeded deep within
Until
They look up, and recognize
All there is too see

The tree, tall and majestic

Leaves shaken off
One at a time, dropping
And folding end over end
Awakened

Presenting and standing
Still
Like the thrill of
Memories gone by

Hopes and dreams dashed
And yet found again

Never wavering, a
Constant in sight and form
Replacing worry and concern
With a knowing

That contemplates, and reconciles
Worry with a need to curry favor
In a hurry, and be more
Determined to continue this journey

One more stretch, under the catch
Of the Earth’s most common branch

Holding and unfolding as planned, and
Being all they can,
As they continue to walk upon the surface
Of the Earth and look up

At that which never wavers,
And resound themselves to mirror
The resolve they see, and
Be more in line with

That tall and majestic tree

Have a wonderful evening, and Sunday, everyone.

A Poem at The Precipice

Photo by Katie Drazdauskaite on Unsplash

We stand before it,
Vastness unbound
In a realm where we
Sometimes
Feel bound to the ground

Darkness, looking out
Over the edge,
As the rubble underneath foot
Meets earth, and we realize
There is no dearth

We fledge
And make a pledge
As we move closer to the ledge
Heart beating faster,
As we face
What some may see as disaster

Yet, we know
It is in each step
Taken
Where we move closer
To that
Which is faster,

A quickening

For it is at that ledge
Of the unknown
Where the beauty of life
Is foretold

Faith and trust
In a process far
Larger
Than is known

A Poem of Peace

Photo by Christopher Sardegna on Unsplash

Twas childhood days,
Once betrayed, and
As a part of our current dismay
Of times gone by

As we try to recreate, a time
And place of forgotten space, and
Distant landscape

A notion of a potion,
We’ve pulled forward
In an effort to alleviate our emotion
Of a common commotion

Of a mind restless and eager
To anticipate a thread, of the
Bed we’ve made bare
Though we do not dare

To tread alone into the emptiness
And stare
Out at the majesty which is there

We need not compare this day

With times gone by,
Instead
Practice the release
Of the surcease, during
This winters masterpiece
Of a life once known to be at peace

For peace is always there,
A comfort for your care, so, please
Always remember you
Are a child of the Lord’s Prayer

A Perspective Poem

Photo by Nadine Shaabana on Unsplash

Time flies away
That which we try to see by day
Never stopping in times array
Of a distant, yet close ballet

Of moving parts and pieces
A dance, seemingly unordered
And static that ceases

A play in motion, which
Can cause quite the commotion
Of mind, until we find
That peace of Mind, which
Comes with devotion, and

Faith in that which is unseen
And seen, beauty
Is in the eye of the beholder, of

A knowing that shoulders

A fire that burns and smolders
Like a love that is bolder, and
Just as it soon as it seems colder
An awareness dawns, bright

With a voluminous light, which
Negates the night, and
Warms us within our heart’s delight

Be well, everyone.

A Poem of The Road

Corvallis, 2020

The Road
A path laid bare
For all who dare, to
Travel it without great fanfare

Bumpy it will be, and
Forks you will see
Left or right decisions are alright,
Yet choices never ware

For it is within our hearts compare
Where you must dare, to
Find yourself in times of despair, and
Tranquility both, in belief are fair

And, thus do complete our affair
Of a minute and distant, yet
Relevant pair, seemingly
Two, yet unknown and known as one

Left or right, choose one, and
Have faith that all will be just right
For it isn’t in the choice that knows
It’s in the poise that shows

Of the strength you have inside

A knowing that knows, of
The home that shows
That left or right, path
Smooth or stoned, will prove
To be your purposed road and abode

A Poem of Life

Photo by Kouji Tsuru on Unsplash

Doors open wide,
And yet I hide to abide
With the realization that
You and me are like a tree

Strong and beautiful with
Roots that go deep underground
In search of nutrients to flourish
The soul of abundance and well nourish

For we are meant to accent, and
Grow strong through all the seasons
In search of a reason

Stretching far and wide
With limbs that reach for the sky
Leaves grown a multitude of colors
With shapes all full of wonder, and

Amazement, as we move toward
That light so flourishing and bright
With all of our hearts delight

Let us then portend this night
As we move our limbs across the sky
And shake our leaves off one at a time

To live another day, and
Nourish that which nourished us first
Some call her Mother Earth, or
Our home and abode of birth

And call this place a sanctuary
For all that’s bright and light
Within a space you call your life

A Mirror Poem

Eyes closed, heartbeats
Near the fire that surely treats
Whimsical notions, and
Fancifully potions of accord, in

A life full of discord, and afforded
Bounty everywhere

As you stare in wonder
And rapt attention
To ponder such reflection

In the mirror of protection
With which each generation
Does pass down

As they stare into a magical station
With a passion to free nations of
Years of strife and uncommon blight

Yet, remember friends that inside
The strife and blight
There is also light, which
Doeth provide equanimity to all humanity

And, though thinketh you are alone
That mirrors the reflection of such possessions
Surrounds another generation, of those
That live and love

Walking hand in hand toward
The blight and strife
Wavering not at all, for they
Are filled with light

And know they are right, and
Will be alright

Justice, they demand
And heel should they
For in healing, not dismay
Is where the light shineth greates
t

And shall protect us one and all
From the mirrored separation that seems so real
Yet is only another movie reel

Of a life that was lived and beloved for real.

Have a splendid weekend, everyone.
