let compassion soarโ€ฆ

a candlelight vigil, dispelling the darkness, in times
crucial, heart and hearth roam free, as we
settle into the
nature of
our

persistence, understanding more, let compassion soar
into the unknown, as we prepare for
another year
bestowed

we know not
what
comes,
yet faith can
guide us from

the shadows,
and into
the

glory of each moment, taking the time to smell
the flowers, and feel the breeze caress
our hearts gently

as we unleash the power of love from the tips
of our fingers, to the tops of
every tower, for

it is in
this
insistence,
we carry love forward

to assist,
in our collective existenceโ€ฆ.

In response to the WDYS #114 prompt from Keep it Alive, by Sadje.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!

the shadow and stoneโ€ฆ

waves break against my eyes, reveler caught,
in-between the shadow and
stone

feeling

the breadth and depth of this universal context,
shown, stars hanging off yonder, while
we continue to plunder, is it
any
real
wonder

about the pain beneath our feet, radiating up, and
through these bodies and minds,
not an accident, rather
something far
greater,
given

in-kind

it is
a love dispensed
from the
depths
of

the seasโ€ฆ

please, then, let us rewind this love transposed,
though, oft bemoaned,
know, it is always
present, and
bestowedโ€ฆ

the flowers proseโ€ฆ

as the pain grows, it reminds me of the flowers
prose, blooming under the sun, and
often, on the
run

hiding in the shadows, and lurking just beneath
the surface, it rises like the tide, this
swelling in my
chest
it is
a

lifelong romance, just like the joy that lives on the other
side, when we abide, and take the center
in stride
we

come out, wide-eyed, with love as
our guideโ€ฆ

shattering like glassโ€ฆ

walking into misery, watching it unfold, it envelops me
like a cloak, I

drown from within, you were just here, how could
it have beenโ€ฆunderstanding loses meaning,
as heart breaks into a thousand
pieces

shattering like glass, spreading out through the air,
diamond bits rest in my chest, throat stuck,
tongue thick, with
a mind
blinking
into
a
mistโ€ฆ

traveling back in time, unavailable, so will settle
on memories lying dormant
in mind, and
heart

though
they
do
tell the story of your love, divined

deep as the ocean is wide, you did your best, while
dealing with your pain
like a mime

and, while goodbyes are unnecessary, I would like to tell
you how much I love you,
one last
timeโ€ฆ

the shadow of forgivenessโ€ฆ

flowers hang in the air, while, I, into the abyss
stare

at the memories, folded, with great care, lifting
them up in reverence
to the shadow
of

forgiveness, I
wander

along the road, searching for my home, knowing
little, feeling
a trifle
more
than

is simple, as the record spins, and the turntable
grins

at me, in retrospect, a lifeโ€™s been given, shall I strive
in the midst
of
a
heartbreak โ€“ it
loomsโ€ฆ
yet

I move forward, carrying more, understanding less,
as the love in my heart,
forevermore,
bloomsโ€ฆ

beauty doth reside in the heart… Published at MasticadoresUSA

I am so pleased to announce that my poem, beauty doth reside in the heartโ€ฆ is now available at MasticadoresUSA. A big thank you to, Gabriela Marie Milton, and the team at MasticadoresUSA for their continued support, and for publishing this piece.

beauty doth reside in the heartโ€ฆ

I sit atop a tree, taking in the beauty seen,
beneath the forest floor, and
above the skyline,
amber tossed

less
remorse(d)

once feltโ€ฆ

I would be honored if you would go here and read the rest of my poem. Thank you!

the moons gentle bestowing

the moon is always calling to me, through
the vastness of the space, in-
between

the stars and galaxiesโ€ฆ

I rest easy in this knowing, learning more about
myself through the reflection of
the moons gentle
bestowing

kind and compassionate, sitting in the sky, just for our
eyes, like a dreamer,
disguised

in plain view, the nature of listening to the wind,
and learning from the whispers
carried on the backs
of

those we call our friendsโ€ฆtrees, flowers, and all of natureโ€™s
creations, call forth
a love

living at the center of the cosmos, providing protection
from the storms that enter mind, and heart
at the same time

while we sit back, breathe in, and realize that life is,
just now,
in this moment,
already in love

with
all weโ€™ve already givenโ€ฆ

we rise from the seas

I swim through the stars, and walk through
the seas, itโ€™s as if presence, and
tranquility

always belonged to meโ€ฆ

living in the belief we hold about lifeโ€™s
struggles

and dreams

we rise from the seas, and wander the strands,
looking for existence to take us by
the handโ€ฆ

loving each moment with fullness of heart, glimpsing
it in every living being, we rest easy,
not clinging

to this or that, while
walking

among the flowers and trees, we continue
to pursue our dreams, and live out our
destiniesโ€ฆ

the presence of love

loving is hard work, relating all weโ€™ve known,
truth, and deep pain, resonates
the sameโ€ฆand,

sometimes

it does burn, scalding from within,
as we look up, transfixed, by the night sky,
cool, placid, not dim

we wonder

whatโ€™s hidden in those galaxies, far away, as we try,
offering solace to our hearts, giving those we love
another start, to

make their way into the galaxy next door, buried
in a love so deep, we often ignore, yet, opening up,
we create the possibility of another
shore

waves lapping upon the heart, cooling the burn, healing
the pain, and offering us more hope than
we can sayโ€ฆ

experience, not at bay, only ever, the presence
of a love that will never stray, and
always stayโ€ฆ

As you may know, the the winners of the Woman: Splendor and Sorrow: | Love Poems and Poetic Prose Poetry Contest were announced earlier this week. I would like to congratulate the winners, Virginia Mateias, Ingrid Wilson, Eric Daniel Clarke, D. Wallace Peach, and Timothy Price. If youโ€™ve not had the opportunity to read their poems, I invite you to read them at, The Winners of The Poetry Contest Woman: Splendor and Sorrow: | Love Poems and Poetic Prose. The poems are lovely.

I am humbled to have been named as an honorable mention in the contest, alongside Joni Caggiano, Cindy Georgakas, Karima Hoisan, and Carrie Yang. I admire all of these talented poets, and am, again, honored to be named among them. A BIG thank you to Gabriela Marie Milton for creating and hosting this lovely contest.

Here is the beginning of the poem I entered into the contest.

andโ€ฆ loveโ€ฆ is seen.
andโ€ฆ
loveโ€ฆ.

is not the end
this story may commence
like petals on a flowers recompense

andโ€ฆ
as love breaks the moon in two
Iโ€™m reminded of you
tranquility among stormy seas
the key

youโ€ฆ
meโ€ฆ.

I would be honored if you would visit Gabrielaโ€™s site, Short Prose, and read the rest of my poem, and the poems of the other honorable mentions. Thank you!
