Blue Shoes

shadows trace my fingers, a space of
wonder filled with
lace

as other contexts make haste

sending to my heart delicate fabrics,
my mindโ€™s eye reminds meโ€ฆ

I would be honored if you would go here, and read the rest of my poem. Thank you!

cinnamon wisps

trees drip with cinnamon wisps, as
cardinal points tug at
my heart

directing me toward the riverfront

while walking along the sand, beneath
my feet, pebbles
stand

reminding
me of diamonds
encrusted with love,
made of dreams from above

they poke and prod, feelings shod, while
reminiscence floods
my mind

and I let love go byโ€ฆ

wafting in the
stream, I continue to
believe

in the love โ€”

Iโ€™ll forever beโ€ฆ

shattering like glassโ€ฆ

walking into misery, watching it unfold, it envelops me
like a cloak, I

drown from within, you were just here, how could
it have beenโ€ฆunderstanding loses meaning,
as heart breaks into a thousand
pieces

shattering like glass, spreading out through the air,
diamond bits rest in my chest, throat stuck,
tongue thick, with
a mind
blinking
into
a
mistโ€ฆ

traveling back in time, unavailable, so will settle
on memories lying dormant
in mind, and
heart

though
they
do
tell the story of your love, divined

deep as the ocean is wide, you did your best, while
dealing with your pain
like a mime

and, while goodbyes are unnecessary, I would like to tell
you how much I love you,
one last
timeโ€ฆ

sweet, like sugar caneโ€ฆ

the key fits the lock just right, as it did
on that fateful night, when we first met,
feeling free

were we

to explore, understanding our heartsโ€™ galore,
combined

that first step, in a multifaceted romance,
with

deep feelings lasting centuries, unbound, limitless,
and grounded in a love,
bleeding

found under a field of compassion, where flowers
grow tall, and their hearts sprout everything,
no doubt

nay

resoluteness, replaced all doubt, and what did sprout,
was tender as a supple branch, blowing
in the afternoon breeze

and, as I reach for my keys one last time, I reminisce on all
the love we felt within, and know
time will move on

yet what will remain is the key just the same,
the one we used to unlock years
of passionate embrace

and a love that was sweet, like sugar caneโ€ฆ

A Bloggerโ€™s Diary 11/7/21: On the Week, Writing and Reflecting, Social Media, the Coast, and the Woman: Splendor and Sorrow: | Love Poems and Poetic Prose Contest

The Week

Well, we are now five weeks into the fall term, and having face-to-face classes for the first time in 22 months. It is both wonderful, and a bit stressful. Thus far, things are going well, and we are now planning to double the amount of face-to-face classes for winter term. All the while realizing that at any moment these classes may need to be switched to remote delivery. We will see.

Iโ€™ve also been working on a new partnership with a regional corporation for employee training, which I am excited about. The training program would increase access to education and employment for many in the local workforce. A wonderful opportunity.

Writing and Reflecting

As you all know, my focus, passion, and creative energies are still focused on poetry, and I donโ€™t see that changing anytime soon. I am in love with the creative process that has developed within me over the last year, and actually have amassed quite a lot of poetry, which may serve as the basis of a book.

I am planning to reflect upon the book, which does already have a title, and go through all of my poems over the winter holidays; the idea being that a book may take form sometime in the spring.

Of all the poems that have been published over the past month or so, unknown, and already unbound, and dusty, and delicious, are the two Iโ€™ve chosen to write about today.

The poem unknown, already, unbound, was a concept that occurred to me while reflecting on my dreams and how worlds (and our associated realities) are socially constructed through our perceptions. Meaning, that, though weโ€™ve always been unbound and limitless, conditioning and socialization creates perspectives of limitation and boundness, if you will.

However, when we recognize that we are just like the tree, the sapling, and the seed, unbound, and already always walking into the unknown, so much of life becomes available. Increasing our awareness of these truths, creates a world, reality, and visceral experience of aliveness. Is beautiful.

The poem dusty, and delicious, was inspired by the WDYS#103 photo prompt from Keep it Alive, by Sadje. I think it is pretty obvious from the poem that the inspiration was, in fact, a reflection of my time as a child living in Los Angeles. My parents would always get donuts on Sunday mornings, and I would await the delivery of these tasty treats with bated breath. Seriously!

Reminiscing about my childhood and writing the poem was much fun, and, well, tasty, even. Ha!

Social Mediaย

In my last diary entry, I wrote about posting on more social media sites, Insta and Twitter more specifically; and that is now happening. I am getting the hang of both of these platforms, with, of course, support from some of our dear blogger friends โ€“ thank you!

These social media platforms are quite different from each other. With Instagram, I plan to continue to post each time I post on WP; yet with Twitter, itโ€™s a completely different strategy.ย

There is a 280 character limit on Tweets, which makes writing a complete poem a challenge, which is the fun of it. I am committed to writing one โ€œTwitter Poemโ€ each day through the rest of this calendar year.

Here is an example of one of my recent Twitter Poems.

love lives
in the unseen,
in the moments
in between, in the stars, and
galaxies, inside of you and me, and
in every living thing,
seenโ€ฆ

Super fun. Iโ€™ve connected with some of you on both of these social media platforms, yet, if weโ€™ve not yet connected, I invite you to follow me, and then, of course I will follow back. You can reach me on Instagram here, and on Twitter here.

The Coast

As most of you know, I love the ocean; and, I am taking a trip to the coast in about two weeks. I am super excited. I am staying in a different town this time called Waldport, which is just next door to Yachats, which is one of my favorite places on the Oregon coast.

Of course, I will take lots of pictures while I am there, and will post about the trip when I am back. Itโ€™s been a while since Iโ€™ve been to the coast, and I am eager. When you grow up close to the coast, or the beach, sea, or whatever the ocean is called where you live, you yearn to be with the water, the waves, the salty air and mist, and the wondrous sea life. I cannot wait.

our loving escapeโ€ฆ

love lost and unadorned, yet remembered, and
stored, for itโ€™s you, Iโ€™ve always adoredโ€ฆ

like butterflies have wings, you always see me,
as I am, not another iteration of a dream
romance

making my towards you, raising through the seas
of possibility, and tranquility, I look forlorn
at times

yet, know

youโ€™re always there with a helpful hand, guiding me,
through ordeals trivial, and those most plentiful,
and mystical

remembering this, gives way to a love
deep within

like sap running through the veins of a tree,
my heart pumps love throughout my
beings entirety

holding it in place, creating a soft and textured space,
for our loving escapeโ€ฆ

The opening line to this poem, and thus the entire poem, was inspired by a wonderful poem, titled November, by Simmi, of Rose-Colored Glasses? If youโ€™ve not yet visited Simmiโ€™s site, and read the poetry there, please do so, it is lovely.

love shines forth

broken wings,
soft and evergreen,
mended,
with the everlastingness
of the sunโ€™s rays,
dancing yellow, and green, they seem

to heal

from
upside down,
as the pain is turned
inside out, and cleaned throughoutโ€ฆ

cascading light,
wishing upon a star
from afar, yet
closer, than realization dawns

as the candle drops,
and, hintsโ€ฆby

speaking in
a language of love
forever kissed, I must admit

your scent lingers
in the air,
fair, as memories
become closer to me
than the breath of you near, and

in this instance,
brokenness becomes
something
altogether witnessed

as love
shines forth, and
we become more,
than you and I
have ever experiencedโ€ฆ

the dreams kept comingโ€ฆ

the city sleeps, in an
indecent, and incandescent
display

tired, drowsy, and
dreaming of better days, or
is it of
the oft betrayedโ€ฆ

itโ€™s heart beating
a rhythm of long ago,
it wonders, and sheds
its skin
often flayed

wide open
for all to see,
like the skyโ€™s,
transparency

walking the streets,

you can feel
the pulse
beneath your feet,
and within
the panes
of the people-less, and
windowed scene, it seems

hallow, and yet also
full of lifeโ€™s drawings,
created long ago, by the people
left behind

when time
stood still,
and we were all
left wonderingโ€ฆ

as the dreams
kept comingโ€ฆ
