I light the candle of love
Beaming a radiant glare of pain and gain
I reminisce about the feeling,

Lingering butterflies in the meadow of my heart
I kissed each flower in nectar sweetness
For you were the garden

But I once read, “love and pain are perfect twins”

So let’s kindle and rekindle this candle of love
Till it forever glows the undying mystery
“love and pain are perfect twins”!

Interview with Victoria Onofrei, Bloomsbury Radio, London; and, lavender petals

I was elated last month when Victoria Onofrei of Bloomsbury Radio sent me a message inviting me to an interview on her radio show. The interview was conducted a couple of weeks ago via Zoom. Victoria is a lovely host, and a delightful conversationalist. It was great fun.

sanguine love

emotions fill the sky
and my heart

with sanguine love
a pain, like an albatross

of hope and dismay
conjuring various realities

in some
I’m filled with anticipation
while in others

dread
is a constant companion

yet, it’s in between them both
where
a mystery comes up

from the shallow river water, to the ice caps
of the tallest mountain
tops

the shadowed, and shaded land
where the push, and pull of life’s paradoxes

gives each of us a welcoming hand

ghosts linger

ghosts of the past
linger

in my memory

with a sky full of love, dried
bone, and blood

which come

by land and sea, this onslaught
always pervades me

as I watch
the trees sway back and forth
remembering

the truth about this paradoxical life course

north, by northwest
of my soul

I find nature’s toil

where flowers bloom in my veins
and tears

soak
the soil
with your name

etched
in the blood of our love

a remembrance, of two
and a shadow from up above

holds light up to the pain

while we strive to make gains

out of dust, knowing
weary travels

create a refrain within my heart

about the stories told to me as a boy

I rise from the ashes of past
circumstances

with a ladle of love in my right hand
and butterflies alighting on my left

thinking about the trees dwelling within me
how they do always seem

lost in times of chaos, yet they
keep me warm

tangled emotions
cutting deep within, where love and pain
are perfect twins

and life is lived beneath the texture of your skin
